Do you suffer from the sypmtoms of IBS?
IBS is a common condition of the digestive system and the symptoms can affect people in different ways. IBS is thought to affect 20% of the population at some time in their lives. The cause of IBS remains unclear but many experts consider that psychological factors such as stress may contribute.
Research by Professor Whorwell, a gastroenterologist at Wythenshaw Hospital, shows that hypnotherapy can make a significant contribution to the treatment and management of symptoms of IBS. Improvements in overall well-being, quality of life, abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhoea and bloating have been recorded. In addition, hypnotherapy is recognised by NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) as an appropriate treatment for IBS.
I have undertaken further training in the treatment of IBS. Having witnessed the impact IBS can have on the lives of sufferers and beng aware of the benefits hypnotherapy can bring it is an area of hypnotherapy in which I am particularly interested.
IBS is a medical condition and before undertaking hypnotherapy it is important that IBS is diagnosed by your doctor so that he or she can rule out other causes of your symptoms.
